REGIONAL GDP AND PER CAPITA GDP

Ruvuma region's GDP trend is highlighted in the graph below. In monetary

terms the region had a GDP at current prices of Tshs.163,256 million and

per capita GDP of 157,749 in 1997 while in 2003 it recorded GDP at current

prices of T.shs. 368,271 million and GDP per capita of 323,848 a positive

change of 126 per cent. The regions contribution to country GDP averaged

at between 3.15 percent and 3.81 percent over the period. Ruvuma region

ranked 4 th in terms of per capita income among Tanzania Mainland regions

in 2003.
