Ruvuma region has identified different areas for investment. Areas for investment include tourism, agriculture, mining, industries (processing and extractive), food and cash crop production, beef ranching and dairying, irrigation farming, and many more.

The region has identified these areas for investment. These areas are available in the respective Districts as stipulated below. The details of these areas can be found in the respective profiles of the Distrcts individually.

TOURISM:	Songea Municipal : Majimaji war museum at Mashujaa is one of the interesting centre containing information on Majimaji war heroes who were hanged by colonial rule in 1905. Matogoro forest reserve is the attractive reserve for scientifific study and viewing .It is located at Matogoro Ward. .Ruhira Game reserve is another interesting game reserve for watching and research. Type of investor recommended: Tourist operators who can access capital to provide tourist facilities such as transport, camps, marketing.	Tourists from overseas, Reserchers.Schools, Local visitors.
	Mbinga District: Tourism Hotels, along Lake Nyasa, sand beaches, Historical caves and war memorarials, water sports. Type of investor recommended: large scale investor with capital, hospitality and marketing skills	Local and foreign tourists.
	Namtumbo District: The Selous Game Reserve inside which there are a lot of wild animals like ; elephants ,zebra, lions buffaloes ,hippopotamus, crocodiles and many others .These animals provide a good attraction to tourists by hunting ,taking pictures and as an adventure. Type of investor recommended: A large scale investors who can build and operate tourist hotels.	Tourists both foreigners and domestic ,public institutions, researchers, public employees and the whole community at large.
	Tunduru District: Selous game reserve, Mwambesi game reserve,Misyaje caves Sasawala game reserve Type of investor recommended: Tourist - operators.	Tourists from overseas.
